TJI® Joists Used as Wall Studs

TJI joists have not been evaluated per the ICC-wood based studs acceptance criteria (AC202) for wall stud application, and thus have no code acceptance. The design and use of the TJI joist as wall studs require a designer of record to provide the building department with proper documentation to approve the application as an alternate material. Weyerhaeuser does not provide design or documentation for this application.

For long, straight, defect-free wall studs, Weyerhaeuser recommends using TimberStrand® LSL.
